Dr. Lokesh Tantuwaya

Dr. Lokesh Tantuwaya is a California State Board Certified Neurosurgeon who spent his undergraduate years at Northwestern University in Chicago, and New College, Oxford University in England. He is a Fellow of the American College of Spine Surgeons.

He completed his medical training at Northwestern University and went on to complete his neurosurgery residency at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania under the tutelage of internationally-renowned neurosurgeons in the field of Cerebrovascular Surgery, skull base surgery, and spinal surgery.

Dr. Tantuwaya then completed a fellowship in Interventional Neuroradiology at the University of California, San Diego Medical Center. He has authored numerous scientific articles and book chapters, and is considered a technically-gifted surgeon by his peers. Dr. Tantuwaya specializes in the application of minimally invasive surgical techniques to brain and spine surgery, known in his practice as xCNS or "extremely conservative neurosurgery."

Currently, Dr. Tantuwaya maintains surgical appointments at the following hospitals:

  • Scripps Memorial Hospital, La Jolla, California
  • Sharp Memorial Hospital, San Diego, California
  • Palomar/Pomerado Medical Center, Escondido, California
  • John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital, Indio, California

Dr. Tantuwaya has been profiled in such magazines as Rancho Santa Fe Review and his participation in renowned surgeries has been covered in the Los Angeles Times and on ABC News.

He remains a long-standing member of the Doctors Offering Charitable Services Surgical Team (DOCS website) and regularly participates in charitable surgeries as he gives back to the community.
